Rick is currently a Board member and Chairman of the Nominating & Governance Committee at Tandem Diabetes Care, (Nasdaq: TNDM) an insulin therapy management company that improves the lives of people living with diabetes. Rick is also Executive Chairman at TrekIT Health, a private, venture backed company building solutions to make the EHR work better for clinicians. Previously Rick was an SVP at Qualcomm where he held several senior executive roles including founding and serving as the President of Qualcomm Life, Inc. until the successful sale to private equity in 2019. Qualcomm Life provided solutions to enable ubiquitous connectivity of medical monitoring devices. Their customers included 2,500 hospitals around the world and most of the top pharmaceutical, medical device and health insurance companies. In his role at Qualcomm Life, Rick also founded and provided oversight to Qualcomm’s two healthcare venture funds, the $100M Qualcomm Life Fund and the $100M dRx Capital in partnership with Novartis. Prior to Qualcomm, Rick founded ProfitLine, Inc., a telecommunications service management company, and served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman from 1992 until the sale of the company in 2009. Rick was an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 and has served on numerous non-profit boards including the Global eHealth Initiative chaired by the Archbishop Desmund Tutu, the World Economic Forum’s Global Health and Healthcare Governors, the MIT Enterprise Forum and Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County.
